DESCRIPTION
The Louis Joliet Mall Tree is an interactive installation at the central atrium of the Louis Joliet Mall in Joliet, Indiana. The installation creates a restful pause for shoppers take a break at from a busy day of shopping. The Tree serves as a bulletin board for the Louis Joliet Community. A composition of mirrored cubes, with concealed LCD screens and DMX-driven LED panel interspersed between the branches of a Ficus tree. The screens and panels display an ever changing array of promotional and community content, syncing for an animated 'glockenspiel' moment at the quarter hour. An interactive photo booth station at the base of the tree, allows visitors to take photographs and push them to the tree.
ROLE
I was Lead Experience & Interaction Designer through the concept and design development phases of this project. My role spanned from developing the experience and interaction stories to client presentations, client team interactions, co-ordination with the AV and fabricator teams as well as ensuring that the diverse internal team of architects, programmers, graphic designers worked cohesively to develop a unique experience.
